Job Description:

Qualifications:
The Director of Faith Formation must be faith-filled, prayerful and willing to share the faith. A BA or BS degree or equivalent is preferred. A Master’s degree is welcomed. Effective oral, written, listening, strong planning, organizational and teaching skills are required. This person needs to have the ability to delegate and be a team player. He or she should be teachable, have relational skills and familiar with technology, especially social media.

General Responsibilities:
The Director of Faith Formation leads the children and youth ministry of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.  This relational ministry includes developing education programs (in conjunction with the Associate Pastor of Programs), fellowship opportunities, and outreach to children, youth, and families.

Primary Responsibilities:

+Attend worship

+Promote faith formation through programs

+Plan, organize, recruit and advertise monthly youth activities (with the Youth

Committee and parents of the youth)

+Build relationships with and among the youth and their families

+Encourage and plan opportunities for service and mission for youth

+Plan events for youth groups

+Recruit, orient and maintain adult volunteers to help plan, implement and evaluate youth events.

+Establish and maintain records for future reference

+Regularly submit information to the tidings and the Daily Journal

+Work in conjunction with the camping and campus ministries of the ELCA

+Plan for involvement in and fund-raising for the ELCA youth assemblies and other activities

+Participate in the local Youth Roundtable

+Assist Pastors with Confirmation program as needed

+ Oversee the Sunday school and vacation Bible school programs working closely with the Associate Pastor of Programs

+Lead the Vibrant Faith Initiative

+Develop and maintain a visible presence in the community, conference, synodical and national expressions of the church

+Attend staff meetings and appropriate Strategic Initiative Teams

+Prepare an annual budget for appropriate ministries and forward to Office Manager
+Check school and church calendar to coordinate events.
+Regularly evaluate programs.
